HOLY CRAP!!!!

Anyone see Michael Phelps in the 100 butterfly? I thought the 400 Relay was amazing with Jason Levak (EDIT: an anonymous tipster pointed out I meant Jason Lezak. Thanks. ) pulling it in at the end, but this is ridiculous, .01 seconds, that's a HUNDREDTH of a second. Ridiculous, absolutely incredible, and now he's tied for Spitz. I hope he pulls off 8, it would be amazing.

Also, today was my last day in Texas, expect a huge blog about it tomorrow (from MIT!! AHH)

I don't know. For me, the relay was just as cool.

Actually, it's kind of a disappointment. Butterfly is Phelps' -thing-; he should have beat his competitor by a large margin... not the smallest margin possible.

Compare this to the relay. This was one of two events that prevented Phelps from breaking Spitz's "one-year of golds" record and -the- event to prevent him from even tying. Add in the fact that the French (particularly the anchor swimmer that Lezak amazingly overtook) have consistently done best in and held the records for this event, and what you have a "Holy [sheet], OMFG!"-worthy reaction to seeing the Americans win.

And as an update, yup, Phelps got his 8th and final gold medal for the 2008 Olympic Games about 12 hours ago.
